Mental Health Services at KBA

Kootenai Bridge Academy is proud to offer free Mental Health Counseling with a licensed Counselor for the 2022/23 school year. Scott Burke, LCSW, is available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30am – 2:30pm, here at KBA. If you are a distance learning student, video sessions can be made available. If a student has other needs, such as gender preference, we can also facilitate online services via BetterHelp.

If you are interested in seeking Scott’s services, click the button marked 'Authorization' under his profile picture. Print and sign the form and return to the school, or email to scott@kootenaibridgeacademy.org. If you have additional questions about these services, please reach out to Scott via email or stop into KBA during his school hours.

While this service is funded by KBA, all sessions and documentation will be held on a separate server. No information about mental health symptoms, or diagnosis, will be shared with administrators or staff without proper releases of information.

Scott A. Burke, LCSW

A little bit about me. I have been treating youth and adolescents with mental health disorders in North Idaho in some fashion since 2001. My foundational training and most of my career has been as a Youth and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist.

Not only am I trained in current treatments for the most common mental health difficulties, I have a particular interest in working with adolescents with all kinds of neurodivergence including: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Nonverbal Learning Disorders. Over the years, I have developed metaphors and tips and techniques designed to help neurodivergent students and their families understand and treat these disorders to have ‘symptoms’ turn into ‘superpowers’.

My working philosophy is that, while mental illness may not be ‘cured’ it can be made to disappear and the impact of symptoms can become almost non-impactful. With the use of psychiatry and psychology at the right mixture, people can lead wonderfully fulfilling lives.

If you’d like to schedule a time to speak with me, please sign and date the accompanying form. I can describe the process in more detail at that time.

I look forward to working with Kootenai Bridge Academy students and their families!
