Every year on the third Friday in May, thousands of people around the world participate in Endangered Species Day by celebrating, learning about, and taking action to protect threatened and endangered species.


With Costa Rica's rich ecological diversity, it is home to over 200 endangered species!! More than a quarter of Costa Rica’s lands is protected in the form of wildlife refuges, national parks, national and biological reserves, marine sanctuaries and conservation areas.
