What is the ACT? ACT is an entrance exam that places you in the appropriate level math and english courses in college. The ACT is not required for most colleges and universities, but it is still recommended that you take it. An ACT or SAT score can qualify you for more merit based scholarships. In addition, if your GPA is lower than what is required for admission to your preferred college, an ACT or SAT can be used in place of GPA requirement.
